Annotation
The article is devoted to the understanding of Eastern statehood in the agrodespotic concept of K. A. Wittfogel. It is noted that Eastern statehood is a special type of statehood, which is not associated with the formation of private property and the development of monogamous marriage. This type of statehood was historical and had its own internal logic of development. This internal logic of development was determined by the material conditions of life and the mentality of the people. Eastern statehood in the agro-hydraulic concept of K. A. Wittfogel looks overly demonized. The article proves that the conclusions reached by the scientist are insufficiently substantiated and have not stood the test of time. Although, the initial prerequisites for the formation of statehood in the East were identified by Wittfogel, right. This article proposes to overcome the ideological clichés and clichés of Orientalist discourse. It is proved that, having existed for millennia, the eastern statehood today demonstrates an amazing creative potential and modern China is a vivid confirmation of this.
