Annotation
A jury trial appeared in Russia during the Judicial Reform of 1864. It was then abolished by the Soviet regime in November 1917 and re-established in July 1993.
Despite the long existence, issues related to its organization and activities have not lost their relevance. Moreover, in modern conditions, this problem has acquired particular significance, which makes it necessary to study the existing domestic experience. One of the most interesting pages of the history of jury trials in Russia is its creation in White Siberia in early 1919. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the organizational and legal principles of this institution that existed in pre-revolutionary Russia, with changes due to the conditions of the Civil War, were taken as the basis for the construction of jury courts in White Siberia; the introduction of jury trials in Eastern Siberia and the Far East faced a number of problems that had pre-revolutionary roots, as well as those caused by wartime conditions; in White Siberia, the jurisdiction of jury trials was limited, since emergency justice bodies were widespread, which in the Civil War showed a high degree of efficiency and were completely loyal to the existing regime.
