Annotation
The article provides a theoretical and legal analysis of the interdisciplinary concept of «crisis in law». This topic became the subject of study in the 19th century, but at the present stage it has been updated due to an increase in the intensity and pace of all state and social processes, the acquisition of the value of a universal social regulator by law, strengthening the role of the international factor and other factors. The aim of the study is a comprehensive characterization of the crisis in the legal sphere
based on the achievements of theoretical and legal, sectoral and international legal science. In accordance with the goal, the following tasks are set in the article such as to reveal the concepts of a crisis in the legal sphere, to conduct a comparative analysis of Russian and foreign studies on legal crises, to consider the causes of crises in law, to classify crises in the legal sphere, to identify signs by which one can judge the growth of crisis phenomena in law. As a result of the work, the author’s definition of the crisis of law is proposed such as a time-limited state of the legal system, in which law cannot regulate a significant set of social relations due to the fact that other social regulators are priority or it aims to preserve an outdated socio-economic structure, external and internal causes of crises, classifications of crises in law have been developed and signs have been identified that allow early detection of crisis phenomena in law.
