Annotation
The aim of the study is to consider the problems associated with the establishment of an extensive legal ban on the demonstration and promotion of certain types of symbols, which have acquired increased public importance in connection with the establishment of criminal liability for the repeated commission of the corresponding administrative offense. The methodological basis of the study was general scientific methods of cognition, the formal legal method of interpreting legal norms, the method of studying documents (media publications, symbols of organizations), content analysis of media publications, and case studies. As a result, there is a need to specify the legal regulation in relation to a number of not well-known symbols, symbols of extremist organizations that do not have an official status, attributes and symbols of organizations to which the ban applies only in connection with part of their products. Particular attention is paid to the set of problems associated with tattoos containing prohibited symbols. The results of the study, including proposals for differentiating responsibility for the display of symbols and attributes depending
on their nature, as well as for preventing multiple prosecutions for displaying tattoos with prohibited symbols, which creates opportunities for corruption and other buses, can be used in legislative and law enforcement activities.
