PROSECUTORIAL SUPERVISION OVER THE ACTIVITIES OF BODIES AND OFFICIALS OF LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION: PROBLEMS OF LEGAL REGULATION

The purpose of this article is to identify the features and problems of the implementation of prosecutorial supervision over the activities of bodies and officials of local self-government in the Russian Federation. The author, using classical legal methods, including formal legal, system-structural, comparative legal methods, made an attempt to identify the main problems of prosecutorial supervision in this area and determine the prospects for its improvement. As a result of the study, it was concluded that at present, prosecutorial supervision over the activities of local government bodies and officials is quite effective, and its results are satisfactory. At the same time, the most successful solution of the tasks of prosecutorial supervision in this area is hindered by a number of problems, the main of which are gaps in the legislation regulating the procedures for certain supervisory activities, and the lack of an established mechanism for interaction between local governments and the prosecutor’s office, the elimination of which the author sees by means of improving particular sources of legal regulation of the sphere under study and the adoption of organizational measures.
