Annotation

The article shows the way the historical development of Russia influenced the features of law as a source of domestic law. While doing the research the author relied on the provisions of the historical and anthropological theory of law. It is noted that the development of the law in the pre-imperial period was associated with a general tendency towards a single written source of law. This trend was intensified in connection with the process of centralization of the state, while the presence of a single all-Russian legislative act played an important role. Subsequently, the desire to borrow foreign legislation was manifested and the influence of church norms also played an important role. During the period of the empire, a multiple increase in the number of legislative acts caused the necessity of systematization, the “peak” of which was the creation of the Code of Laws of the Russian Empire. It is also noted that the constant expansion of the territory and including new suburban peoples in the legal field determined the originality of the operation of laws in space and personal scope of application.
