Annotation
The article analyzes the position of academic science during the years of revolutionary changes in Russia, their perception by scientists, including the contribution of the latter to the development of the Academy of Sciences at the turn of historical eras. The author examines the impact of the events of 1917 on domestic science, analyzes
the activities of the scientific community in the context of its further development in Soviet Russia. The article emphasizes that the preservation, reorganization and opening of new scientific institutions, including the conduct of scientific research, directly depend on proper funding from the state. The complex of problems faced by the academic community in the conditions of anomy, typical of global economic, social cultural and political upheavals, as well as the reaction of professional associations to the challenges generated by the new reality, is studied.
