Annotation
The article analyzes the activities of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Empire on the implementation of the provisions of the Judicial Charters of 1864 after the resignation of D. N. Zamyatnin and up to the proclamation of the end of the Judicial Reform in 1899. The interaction of the ministry at the vertical and horizontal levels with other state bodies is considered. The contradictory activity of the Ministry of Justice in the context of the growth of protective tendencies is shown.
