Annotation

The purpose of the article is to explore some aspects of the influence of international law on the development of certain branches of the legislation of the Russian Empire. Based on the analysis of the examples given in the article of the implementation of international legal norms in Russian legislation, it is concluded that they contributed to a significant improvement in the legal status of a person, in particular women in Russian society and the state in the specified historical period. The projects implemented at the turn of the 19th – 20th centuries are also considered. In the law enforcement practice of the Russian Empire, there are monistic and dualistic concepts of the relationship between the international legal system and Russian domestic legislation. The smooth transition of the Russian state from the policy of contrasting national law with international law (XV–XVI centuries) to the recognition of the possibility of applying international legal norms (Modern Times) to liberalize legal relations between individuals and the state in the name of the triumph of universal values is shown.
