Annotation
The article is devoted to the question of the expediency and necessity in modern conditions of the legal recognition of animal rights, similar to those that are considered natural human rights. While investigating the problem, the author suggests focusing on legal arguments rather than ethical and philosophical ones, despite the fact that
it is typical for modern research to appeal to the latter. Given that law has an instrumental value for humans and society, it is important to consider whether the legalization of animal rights can provide solutions to problems relevant to modern society. The analysis suggests that the question cannot be answered positively. In fact, the legalization of animal rights can have serious consequences, socially negative and destructive for the law itself.
